Janet Elizabeth MaryCATTANACH(née Bellamy) Janet passed away peacefully at home on Saturday 3rd May 2025, aged 87 years, surrounded by the love of her family.

Born in Teignmouth, Devon, to Frank and Lillian Bellamy on New Year's Day 1938, Janet's life was filled with purpose, adventure, and a deep devotion to those she loved.

Janet began her career working in a bank after leaving school, and soon after became a steadfast supporter and partner to her beloved husband John.

Together, they built a life of discovery - living in Canada and the United States before returning to the UK to settle in Surrey, where Janet raised their four children: Julia, Jane, Alan and David.

A woman of strength and quiet determination, Janet also pursued work in adult education and later embraced the opportunities of life abroad once more, moving to Saudi Arabia and travelling extensively. Wherever she lived, she built community and opened her heart to new cultures and experiences.

Eventually, Janet and John returned to Devon, settling in the village of Newton Ferrers. There, she became an integral part of village life-an active and much-loved member of many local groups, including the Women's Institute, church groups, the choir, and the parish magazine. Her warmth, kindness, and boundless energy touched everyone who knew her.

Janet had a deep love of travel, flowers, amateur dramatics and, above all, friendship. She brought people together with her good humour, grace, and generosity of spirit. Her legacy lives on in the lives she nurtured and inspired.

She will be deeply missed by her children Julia, Jane, Alan, and David; her grandchildren Kaitie, Megan, Bryanna, Evie, Liam, Noah, and Nina; her great-grandson Grayson; and the many friends and neighbours whose lives she enriched.

In the garden of life, Janet was a vibrant bloom-radiant, rooted, and unforgettable.

The family have requested colourful attire.

There will be a celebration of Janet's life at Holy Cross Church, Newton Ferrers, Devon on Wednesday 11th of June at 1.00pm.
